Just a FYI.
It’s coming this May 18 for both the PS3 and 360 simultaneously in North America, and May 20 for Japan.
Also, Gears of War in Lost Planet? LOL!
Here we are in the year 2010 and we still haven’t gotten over the problem with region restrictions on consoles.
F***ing epic.
Though it’s a shame, I had a group of 4 players including myself on PSN trying to take on the tank aiming for S rank. The best we managed was A rank, 5:54, no kills.
PS3’s Adhoc Party is great, it lets you connect the PSP to other players as if they were in the same room. Of course, voice chat/USB keyboard is supported, and you definitely want voice chat to be able to communicate effectively (these are supposed to be adhoc games, after all). There are a few bugs here and there with the interface, sometimes the network lags but it’s overall really cool.
Anyone want to post their experiences?
You’ll have to forgive me for the long rant, but I just wanted to get this out there.
A regular solo play on the Lost Planet 2 PS3 demo, which came out on September 24, 2009 at TGS 2009. The video is also available in 720p60 with 5.1 audio (AC3), at the following links:
Part 1: YouTube | Megaupload (687 MB)
Part 2: YouTube | Megaupload (905 MB)
Part 3: YouTube | Megaupload (870 MB)
Please be advised that you will need a high-end computer, or maybe a PS3 to play these. Otherwise, please enjoy the YouTube videos!
All videos were recorded using the Hauppauge HD-PVR, and captured at 720p60 with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. Of course, you won’t hear the 5.1 audio unless you check out the transport stream files I uploaded for your convenience.
Here’s Kojima on developing for different platforms other than the PS3:
“I don’t make games for platforms,” Kojima said. “I make games for players, and it’s because of the players that I’m able to be here.”
Statement of the century, right here.
So it’s been maybe a month already since the 360 demo came out, so let’s see how the PS3 demo fares:
The framerate has drastically improved, even sometimes reaching 60 fps! I don’t know whether that’s a result of a month in the development lifecycle being very meaningful, or if the power of MT Framework is utilizing the 6 CPU cores on the PS3 efficiently. Seeing my previous benchmarks for RE:5 when switching from a dual-core to a quad-core CPU, this is probably not too farfetched of a possibility…
That said, an update to the 360 demo would help give me an understanding of whether this performance boost carried over to the 360 as a result of improvements in MT Framework 2.0, or if the PS3 will end up being the victor.
