Funny, a week ago, there was an ISP-funded report saying otherwise:

The report, commissioned by Bell, Bell Aliant, Rogers, Cogeco, Telus, Shaw and SaskTel and prepared by telecommunications consultant Mark Goldberg, found that Canadians are well served in broadband, contrary to the findings of other international reports.

Bell Canada Inc. is moving to impose download limits on customers of independent internet providers… The limits would range from two gigabytes per month for customers with slower connections of 512 kilobits per second up to 60 GB for those with the faster speeds of five megabits per second…

Seriously. You do it to your own customers, then whatever. Now you want to do this to the reseller ISPs too? You already have another case that is to be ruled on by the CRTC; this isn’t making your case any better than it should be, especially since Google is against you.

Not just their customers, but the reseller ISPs now, and I’m under one of those reseller ISPs.

News Link

Bell claims they’re only slowing down torrents, but it’s also affecting network latency in Mabinogi, too! You tell me if I’m happy with that!

I hope the CRTC takes the matter seriously and does something that’ll let everyone be happy. Or just make Bell suffer and we win (zero-sum game). Don’t care which, just let me play my games in peace!

I’m nowhere near Ottawa, but a rally is being held there April 29, so if you’re around, please show your support!
