Mabinogi Patch Messup

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

http://mabinogi.nexon.net/Notice/View.aspx?boardNo=100&contentNo=001Go&pageIndex=1

Hello Mabinogians,

Currently, we are experiencing some technical problems with our auto patch.

Our developers are working really hard right now to fix the problem and open the game as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, at this moment, we do not know exactly when the problem will be fixed.

We’ll be updating this notice to keep you posted on the progress.

We apologize for any inconvenience and we thank you for your patience.

- Mabinogi Staff -

Guess what, Nexon USA? I can tell you exactly what your problem is. Perhaps you should look at your patch FTP. Notice the 26_to_27 files are missing?

Here’s your directory listing. Please don’t tell me your definition of “working very hard” is my definition of “working for five minutes.”

Mabinogi USA: Petition for Text Lag

Friday, July 11th, 2008

http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/Mabitextsystemchange

Let’s kill the chatter regarding how petitions don’t work, and get straight to the point:

By playing Mabinogi and not signing the petition above, you agree that you are fine with the lag/freezing associated with the text rendering in Mabinogi.

To Sony: How to Prevent a 2.40 Catastrophe

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

So you’ve all found that releasing 2.40 caused some major problems. I bet you’ve also tested the firmware through internal teams, but realize now that the sample size isn’t big enough. Want a suggestion? Here’s one:

Form a beta testing team outside of SCE.

This team will be limited in size. Selection should be decided based on the percentage of PS3 models out there, as well as varying Internet configurations. Those that do qualify to be part of the beta team will have to make sure their PS3 has been registered, and then they should get access to new beta updates (and probably a mailing list for reports and such).

Testers that get these beta firmwares will still be covered under warranty should their PS3 brick due to updating; if someone should somehow leak the firmware to outsiders (which is highly unlikely), sure they can update if they want. However, they won’t be covered under warranty.

The larger sample size should reduce the amount of PS3s damaged due to bad firmware coding, and allow some time to make final adjustments before putting the firmware out for public consumption.

What will this do? Perhaps reduce the chance that everyone’s PS3 dies from a system update, costing a lot?

MGO Japan: Training Teachers!

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

Looks like on the Japan side of MGO, they had classes that teach people to become instructors in specific areas. Here’s the rough translation I came up with:

Kept you waiting?

On the 21st (Saturday), the elite staff from Kojima Productions will be holding Teaching Coaching!

13:00~ KP_Ocky - CQC, Scanning (Intermediate)
17:00~ KP_OTANI - Basic Actions (Beginner)
21:00~ KP_KUNIBERT - Shooting, Weapon Characteristics (Beginner)

*Each class is scheduled to be held for about an hour.
*Attendance for lectures are first-come first-serve.
*We’d like for people to take only one class per person.

Just so people can benefit from the Teaching Coaching sessions, we’ve put up a manual!
Please be sure to listen to the teachers.

Mabinogi USA = Crap

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

Seriously, the support is god-awful. 12 hour maintenance today, and then there are glitches in Emain Macha’s map, spelling/grammar errors, Secret Shops not working, and Australian IPs still can’t log in despite the claim Oceania countries can now log in.

I’m very likely to withhold further payment from Nexon until they get their act together, this is absolutely stupid. I’ll bet next week they’ll have their content update, but unless they fix up all the bugs and stuff I’m not paying.

SEGA Fails to Support Armored Core

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Shame that they don’t… the Japanese side of things currently have Regulations version 1.60 up and available for everyone, but on our side, only the Xbox 360 version gets this glory; the PS3 version still remains at 1.40, and I can confirm this as a fact (at this time of writing).

Furthermore, it appears SEGA has no plans on working on Armored Core: For Answer.

Finally, the site SEGA once had for Armored Core 4 is now offline (the US PlayStation site still links there).

Can we get someone more competent and prompt localizing the Armored Core games, please? It appears SEGA has just gone downhill.

Little Busters: EX cast decided

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

You can see the page here.

Frankly speaking though, I doubt they changed the cast at all. There are some hints at this:

  1. Rin’s seiyuu is still named “Tomoe”, but in hiragana (ともえ) as opposed to the original being katakana (トモエ)
  2. Sasami and Rin’s seiyuu are still the same, as is Haruka and Kanata’s
  3. Looking closely at names you can tell there’s something in the characters that somehow matches with the original
  4. What kind of idiot would re-cast for an all-new group?
