91 is…

  1. a liar.
  2. an asshole.
  3. one who flirts with all the women.

What’s with Makoto? When she’s around 91, Nayuki, and Akiko, she’s all hyper and likes to pull pranks, but when some stranger (e.g., Ayu) comes round, she’s all shy and hides a lot. Guess we’re starting to see part of her personality.

Kaori coverage! Finally, I was hoping for more of that. Too bad she isn’t one of the main girls, let alone the main heroine. By all rights she should have been one! >:(

Nayuki’s too damn typical for the average harem girl; all “I’m trying to do everything but falling behind” business. Though mind you she doesn’t look too bad.

Kawasumi Mai + sword = win. Though will we be seeing her actually attack demons? Would be nice if a giant blue humanoid thing from Haruhi came about, and she’d have to jump up and do a Jumping Golden Slash. I would kill to see that happen.

In other news, we don’t have any snow yet, so we can’t expect any Sad Girls either here. But it’s Canada, so who knows what’ll happen. Of course, expecting Sad Girls is going to be like expecting to win the lottery.

Oh noez! I’m actually covering another anime that’s not Sad Girls in Snow!

Okay, seriously. Although one of the storywriters comes from Gundam SEED, you have an entire staff with experience from Gasaraki, Eureka 7, the works! Best of all, you have CLAMP character designs (with some influence on storyline from them I might add), and this may end up being one of my favorite mecha anime shows.

Lelouche’s all “end justifies means” and Suzaku’s “means justifies end”, though they both seem to be heading in a generally gray direction. I wonder how both are going to handle taking down Britannia. Although a lot of what’s happened thus far hints towards a Suzaku vs. Lelouche thing, I beg to differ. It seems more like they plan to collaborate from time to time but try to avoid fighting each other unless absolutely necessary (given circumstances).

… seriously though. I look at a few of these characters and I keep thinking of Fye and Kurogane from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Suzaku being Syaoran, Lelouche being Kamui. It’s just that sad. At the same time though, you could say that they don’t look alike, but they seem that way in likeness and personality.
If we were to think about it that way, you could say that our “Kamui” is going to figure out what he’s doing wrong, “Syaoran” is going to figure out why things aren’t always what they seem, etc. It’ll work out.

No screencaps this time, unless someone makes it easy for me and gives me an auto-screencap program! >:)

First things first, Makoto is hilarious. Freeloaders at their best, huh. The sponge rolling down her back was classic. Yuuichi is an asshole, and he’s good at what he does.

Secondly, no Kaori exposure? Come on, Kaori is a cool girl, after all! Out of all the girls in this anime, Kaori looks/acts the best hands down. Screw Nayuki, Ayu, or any of the other girls!

Lastly, does everyone have amnesia? Seems to me maybe they all came together one night seven years ago, ate something that put them all into a coma, and here they come one winter morning present day all having their memories screwed up. That’s gotta be fun.
Read on for spoilers regarding what might happen at end of series…

Things to note:

  • Kyon + Yuuichi = Kyuuichi, also known as “91″ or 九一, as put by some other bloggers. Reasons are:
  • Had a “normal” self-introduction and would like to hear a “not normal” self-introduction
  • Narrated out loud like Kyon would
  • Called himself a “normal transfer student”
  • The girl outfits look great, but the guy uniforms are… meh.
  • What the hell was Makoto thinking? ^^;
  • In conclusion, Kanon ep 2 will hook people a lot more than ep 1 did. Be warned. It’s Haruhi all over again. :)

    P.S. Does anyone know how to take the following screenshots automatically and have them automatically resize and post to WordPress in this manner? Doing this all manually is going to give me carpal tunnel or something… ^^;

    Kanon 01

    Wednesday, October 11th, 2006

Despite having worked on the fansub for this (and being quite a bit late behind the other competitors), I thought I’d give in my comments as to the episode thus far.

Speaking of which, if you have any suggestions on how to improve the fansub, please let me know. I’m taking notes! :D

    Haseo is not pleased.

I had a lot of hope going for this show, but it’s become quite obvious that the ones who once animated .hack//SIGN have actually gotten worse than they are now. Do they plan on selling any DVDs of this crap?

    Review: Fate/stay night

In the wake of the new blog having been brought into play, most of my Movable Type entries from April had died out due to issues with the SQL server. Those entries happened to be Fate/stay night related, so I’ll summarize here.

Review and Summary: Initial D 3rd Stage

Yes, I have this car. I’m serious.

Unlike its predecessors, 1st and 2nd Stage, as well as its successor, 4th Stage, 3rd Stage took one of the more important story arcs from the manga and made it a solid drama which I wouldn’t mind watching again.

(1st, 2nd and 4th Stage suck! If you’re gonna watch it, do it only for the exaggerated music and battles! Trust me!)

Review: The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi

    Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

Best. Anime. Ever. Or almost. In any case the series is great, it’s gotten top sales for its DVD alone, and guess what? No one gave two shits about this before the second episode aired! I’ll admit, not even I knew about this series either.

In any case, during the course of its airing I was encouraged to go join Baka-Tsuki’s novel translation project and help them out with a bit of editing, checking around, moderating, and mostly image editing. Please check them out, and if you are a translator (preferably Japanese), your help is appreciated.

They’re also doing the Zero no Tsukaima novel translations as well; suffers the same problem as Suzumiya Haruhi’s reputation, but not as famous for some odd reason. Maybe it’s because J.C. Staff is animating this? Haruhi was animated by Kyoto Animation. Or maybe because Kyoto Animation is so faithful to their adaptations they’re masterpieces (and Kanon 2006 will probably be no exception either).
