Too much dango…

Yes, I know I’ve been busy, and I’ve been neglecting a lot on the anime reviews, but for a good cause.
Just more or less collecting だんご大家族.
It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it.
If you don’t know what I mean, go visit the site and please support the Clannad Game Translation Project! ![]()
Although this particular situation had concluded a long while back with some form of sanity, it’s started up here again: “the ethics of translation“.
It’s funny, only six months ago we had started the Suzumiya Haruhi novel translation project, and now we have 5 volumes completed, with volume 6 mostly done, and volumes 7 and 8 are underway. Hell, the speed we go at would probably rival the rate professional companies dish out. Not saying that the translators are bad in any way, they may be translating just as fast as we are. I guess my main beef’s with the companies that like to delay oh so certain things for so many years (*cough*ADV + JINKI*cough*).
If you haven’t joined the fray, at least to read or to contribute to the project, please do so! ![]()
Now the reason why I haven’t commented much on how the current Sprocket-TWH collaboration is doing on fansubbing is mainly due to the amount of flamebait it might catch from people currently watching Kanon. There are a number of things I’ll mention here.
Despite having worked on the fansub for this (and being quite a bit late behind the other competitors), I thought I’d give in my comments as to the episode thus far.
Speaking of which, if you have any suggestions on how to improve the fansub, please let me know. I’m taking notes!
Best. Anime. Ever. Or almost. In any case the series is great, it’s gotten top sales for its DVD alone, and guess what? No one gave two shits about this before the second episode aired! I’ll admit, not even I knew about this series either.
In any case, during the course of its airing I was encouraged to go join Baka-Tsuki’s novel translation project and help them out with a bit of editing, checking around, moderating, and mostly image editing. Please check them out, and if you are a translator (preferably Japanese), your help is appreciated.
They’re also doing the Zero no Tsukaima novel translations as well; suffers the same problem as Suzumiya Haruhi’s reputation, but not as famous for some odd reason. Maybe it’s because J.C. Staff is animating this? Haruhi was animated by Kyoto Animation. Or maybe because Kyoto Animation is so faithful to their adaptations they’re masterpieces (and Kanon 2006 will probably be no exception either).
I know I’ve been slacking off in terms of the manga editing work but PSU Network Mode is coming soon and I’ll end up wasting a lot of time there. ^^; I do want to continue JINKI though, but for some reason .hack//G.U. seems to be losing my interest. This is mostly because of the fact there are a lot of stupid kiddies out there who like to annoy about this sort of crap, plus the storyline is not canon to what the games have presented so far. I dunno, I’m still thinking.
Some of you may have seen my Kanon Prelude fansub. I don’t expect to do Kanon (2006) at this time, but if interest is really high and there might be a translator or two who are willing to help out (or maybe a Kanon otaku? :o), perhaps I might actually consider doing the sub for real.
As some said, fansubbing is a lot easier to do than scanlating for some reason. Maybe it’s because it’s the times, or the software for fansubbing has become a lot easier to use than photoshopping all the time.
