Kyoto Animation has let slip on the audio commentary of one of their recent Kanon DVDs that they would like to animate Little Busters! The question now is, does this put in stone that Tomoyo After will not be animated? Or is there always the possibility of an OVA?

Given the Key momentum, saying they would like to animate it seems entirely plausible.

I do hope Tomoyo After exists in one way or another. Personally, I would prefer an OVA, given how the game functions, as well as the fact that OVAs are far less restrictive. Though for an OVA, it’d have to be pretty long, like 6 episodes. OVA is also a play on terminology since the art style for Tomoyo After was indeed different than Clannad.
Though I wouldn’t know who’d do the OVA. If it was Kyoto Animation, I don’t understand how that would be original. (Again, I still liked the One OVA, so if Tomoyo After existed similarly, I wouldn’t mind at all, but on the other hand that would be odd too.)
Also Tomoyo After is the only extension or aftermath-like Key content. I am not surprised if Kyoto Animation indirectly bypasses it. The fact that it originated as 18+ content as well s the fact that its all ages conversion has a 25% scenario expansion upon the removal of the H, it’s a lot different to approach than say Kanon or Air, which had a full clear-cut basis.
Liking to animate? Certainly believable. Possibility of a Tomoyo After OVA? Definitely possible. However, the fact that we don’t even know which anime is going to air in Fall among other things Kyoto Animation can produce, who knows what order what will come out in.
Though I’d much rather have a Tomoyo After OVA before a Little Busters airing, as that game is rather new. I say OVA instead of animation because it doesn’t have as big of a branching pattern, and since it is so concentrated on a select few things, OVA seems better suiting. (I also do not like how Kyoto Animation anime can sometimes have bland issues, or be very restrictive, despiting including very fine details on content and visuals.)
I agree with Amoirsp. As much as I would love to see a Little Busters! TV series, I’d prefer it if after airing CLANNAD, they’d release a Tomoyo After OVA afterwards.=/
Hmmm… wasn’t there also a little thing called ‘Planetarian’ in the midst of the rest of the stuff? Hopefully KyoAni can string in a Planetarian adaptation somewhere in their busy schedule too…
I’d fully support an anime of Tomoyo After. While a showing of Little Busters as an anime is definitely possible, and definitely supported by a majority of Key fans, it is rather new. However, a Tomoyo After series or OVA would probably cause new problems to arise, especially when it comes to which route or universe from the Clannad series is canon. But, if they made a Tomoyo After OVA, I’d gladly purchase it, haha.
I have to agree about the differences between art styles of Clannad and Tomoyo After though. Would they do Tomoyo After using Fumio-sensei’s art? I certainly wouldn’t mind that, but Clannad fans would probably have something to say about it.
