Yes, I know I’ve been busy, and I’ve been neglecting a lot on the anime reviews, but for a good cause.
As you all may have already heard, I am currently spearheading the CLANNAD Translation Project, which is being run via the wiki system and webspace that Baka-Tsuki uses. Having talked with thelastguardian over key issues here and there, I can trust that his experience with constantly trying to improve the system will help prevent spams and attacks from damaging the data I’m so trying to protect. Then of course, there’s backups I do once in a while to make sure nothing gets lost, in a worst-case scenario.
We’re currently running around 25% of the pure, raw translation being done. Of course though, more of this can start coming in if you guys come to help and do either:
- editing
- translating
- finding mistranslations and fixing them
- finding inconsistencies that do not match the Guidelines
It’s a lot of work ahead of me and dgreater1, as we are the only two main translators who are seriously working on the project. A lot of people most certainly have joined the bandwagon, but it would be nice to see a lot more of a persistent effort out there to submit content such that translated stuff gets finished soon.
I can only pray that when the CLANNAD movie airs sometime this year (probably summer), that there will be more interest and more translators/editors will come in to help our cause. I’m hoping for the Haruhi Effect*, after all.
* – When Suzumiya Haruhi novels were being translated, it took the TV series to suddenly get the attention of the anime community before translation finally picked up speed. Now only 1 or 2 volumes are left to go.
