Package

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

NCSX shipped my copy of Phantasy Star Universe yesterday; UPS picked it up around 5:41 Eastern Time and it’s taken them 23 hours so far. They’re now somewhere in Fort Erie, so I’m expecting that I’ll be getting my copy tomorrow as opposed to today. A shame.

It’s crossed the Canadian border but does anyone know where UPS usually sends their stuff to, in order to clear Customs? And how long does that usually take?

Bunny Girls!

Night prior to that last post
(A while ago, one of my friends was getting married, and his best man and I were planning the bachelor party. The best man asked me, “Who should we invite?” I said, “The groom, of course, and lots of strippers.” “Okay, who else?” “I’d stop there.”)

YouTube, Haruhi… MSNBC?

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

From Anime on My Mind:

Quoting the September 3rd issue of Newsweek, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, has become a national phenomenon, thanks to more than 2,000 related clips, including parodies, now available on Youtube.” (I’m pretty damn sure Haruhi isn’t popular because of YouTube, but I disgress.) Appendix: found a scan. They didn’t go bunny girl!?!

Biggest thing to note here, MSNBC. Why the hell do they mention Haruhi? Sounds like the phenomenon will come to our shores very very soon…

Sidebar changes

As you see on the right, there’s now a poll option as well as a shoutbox for people to scream and figure out what needs to be done. I’m also taking input here on whether or not I should fansub Kanon… it’s very tempting…

Story Mode forced?

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

It would appear that the Network Mode is still down even four hours after SEGA claimed the servers would be up. Leads me to believe that Takao Miyoshi-san wanted people to play maybe up to at least Chapter 4 before going online, otherwise the offline mode may have been wasted…?

Needless to say, the story is still good. I’m up to Chapter 10 if people are wondering.

EDIT: Never mind, appears that Network Mode will open this afternoon, Japan time.

Obligatory logo to attract attention from extraterrestrial activity. If you see this article, please watch out for very large cave crickets.

The splash page for the blog also has a few updates in terms of randomness and whatnot. Look for Nagato’s comments. :)

Review: The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

Best. Anime. Ever. Or almost. In any case the series is great, it’s gotten top sales for its DVD alone, and guess what? No one gave two shits about this before the second episode aired! I’ll admit, not even I knew about this series either.

In any case, during the course of its airing I was encouraged to go join Baka-Tsuki’s novel translation project and help them out with a bit of editing, checking around, moderating, and mostly image editing. Please check them out, and if you are a translator (preferably Japanese), your help is appreciated.

They’re also doing the Zero no Tsukaima novel translations as well; suffers the same problem as Suzumiya Haruhi’s reputation, but not as famous for some odd reason. Maybe it’s because J.C. Staff is animating this? Haruhi was animated by Kyoto Animation. Or maybe because Kyoto Animation is so faithful to their adaptations they’re masterpieces (and Kanon 2006 will probably be no exception either).

Blargh

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

I know I’ve been slacking off in terms of the manga editing work but PSU Network Mode is coming soon and I’ll end up wasting a lot of time there. ^^; I do want to continue JINKI though, but for some reason .hack//G.U. seems to be losing my interest. This is mostly because of the fact there are a lot of stupid kiddies out there who like to annoy about this sort of crap, plus the storyline is not canon to what the games have presented so far. I dunno, I’m still thinking.

Some of you may have seen my Kanon Prelude fansub. I don’t expect to do Kanon (2006) at this time, but if interest is really high and there might be a translator or two who are willing to help out (or maybe a Kanon otaku? :o), perhaps I might actually consider doing the sub for real.

As some said, fansubbing is a lot easier to do than scanlating for some reason. Maybe it’s because it’s the times, or the software for fansubbing has become a lot easier to use than photoshopping all the time.

Phantasy Star Universe

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

First off, the preorder business.

Because I was one of the more unfortunate ones to have preordered Phantasy Star Universe only two weeks in advance, NCSX was planning to put me on the backburner. Fortunately, kyori had preordered all the way back in January and cancelled his preorder, so I asked for priority with him and I got it. That should hopefully solve my problem for now; I hope the game gets shipped today.

EDIT: Speaking of which, they appear to have it in stock now. Hurrah!
Now for the game stuff. (no screens, sorry)

Restart!

After having my Movable Type database get screwed up, plus seeing others’ use of WordPress on other sites (e.g., DarkMirage’s blog), I figured it was time to start fresh and see how this new system holds out.
