The raw heating block for the Replicator 2X; this one is milled from Fargo 3D Printing.
I’m not sure why, but there’s an inherent lack of information online on how to disassemble these things, or rather, the correct way of actually disassembling them. This has gotten my fingers burnt, as well as broken a thermocoupler in the process.
Fargo posted online on YouTube very good video instructions on how to do this. Although most of the steps I discovered by myself, the video was only posted recently so it was unfortunately impossible for me to have caught it in time. However, the video only covers removing the heater block; if you want to remove the stock ceramic insulation that Makerbot provided by default, you’ll have to make sure to remove the heat break and nozzle from the aluminum block, remove the heat cartridge screw, and then slowly pry away the block from the ceramic insulation.
Having said that, I’m probably going to go with a silicone mould type, just like in the video.

Wow, it’s been a while since I worked on a fansub, but here it is. What we have here is not a fansub done for groups, but a fansub to show the interest and dedication of Phantasy Star fans not just in Japan, but across the entire globe. Posted here is the fansub of the Phantasy Star Online 2 Media Briefing that aired on Nico Nico Douga on July 26, 2011. Continue reading
I posted my comment at Capcom-Unity, but I’ll mirror it here as well:
I heard about this news last night, and was sadly disappointed at the direction Capcom has taken over the past couple of years. Since Lost Planet 2, or even earlier, games from Capcom have started taking a downhill turn, but when Keiji Inafune was let go, I somehow had this feeling that everything was about to go straight into the gutter. Turns out I was right.
Now, I don’t own a 3DS, but announcing a game like Megaman Legends 3 and then canning it shows there’s a huge policy/principle issue with Capcom and how they treat gamers. It’s forced me to re-evaluate purchasing or importing games from Capcom, and I do hope that the 476+ comments posted at this time of writing give them a heads up on where they truly stand as a company.
Also, if Capcom has nothing more to do with the Megaman franchise, they are better off selling it to someone who can do something with it, like a certain Keiji Inafune.
Thought I’d share some thoughts about Kojima Productions and its showing for E3 2011. Continue reading
I’m not fond of the way the UBB was proposed by the CRTC and its constituents, and I’m glad that Tony Clement has stamped down on the whole thing. Though you notice that the chairman has been trying to compare it to utility bills a lot. You want to compare it to utility? Then price it like utility. Make it cost like $0.15 a GB for people who want to use only what they download, and perhaps some flat $50 fee for those who want to go unlimited. There’s no need for these base flat fees, bandwidth caps, and expensive overage costs.
Oh, also give me the option to disable network throttling too. I don’t care if it adds $0.05 a GB (or $10 to my unlimited fee).
If you read around the Internet, you’ll have noticed news that shows the PS3’s security has been wholly compromised, and that Sony is looking into a solution for the problem.
I’ve recently set up my Hauppauge HD-PVR to do live capturing and it works pretty well. My upstream isn’t so great though, and the computer I’m working with isn’t that strong for encoding. Fortunately the two happen to be on the same level, so all is good.
My history of streams will be here, but Justin.tv deletes the files within a week. I will make an effort to put up files from Justin.tv on the website when I can.
This week’s feature happens to be Vanquish, for the PS3. I’ll look at other games as I go along.
P.S. It is impossible to put these on YouTube, I’m certain of it. Although Justin.tv offers the functionality, these videos are at least two hours in length at times.
